VMware vShield End of Availability
VMware has announced the end of availability (“EOA”) of the vShield family of products for sale as standalone products effective September 30, 2012. This EOA affects vShield Edge™, vShield App™, vShield Data Security™ and vShield Endpoint™. Read the FAQs
NOTE: You will need to ensure that the
- (a) ESX patch bundle (ESX410-201107001) is applied to the ESX 4.1 host, or
- (b) ESXi patch bundle (ESXi500-201109401-BG) has been applied to the ESXi 5.0 host. Please see KB 1027808 for details on this patch bundle.
You will also need to ensure that the guest VM has the vShield Endpoint Thin Agent, which is available from the VM Tools bundle (ESXi500-201109402-BG).
The Thin Agent is applicable to the VMs running on ESXi 4.1 and ESXi 5.0 hosts. Please see KB 2002778 for details.
Get Your VMware vShield Endpoint License Key
Once you have purchased VMware vShield Endpoint, you will receive a licensing confirmation email with your license keys or you can retrieve your license keys from the license portal.
If you have pre-vShield Endpoint 5.0.0, you must un-install it before installing vShield Endpoint 5.0.0. See “Upgrade vShield Endpoint” in vShield Quick Start Guide
