VMware vSphere Data Protection Advanced
Starting March 1, 2015, VMware vSphere Data Protection Advanced will be consolidated into VMware vSphere Data Protection (available through vSphere Essentials Plus Kit or higher vSphere editions, all vSphere with Operations Management editions and all vCloud Suite editions) and will no longer require purchase of a separate license. All functionality available with vSphere Data Protection Advanced, previously available as a standalone product, is now included in VMware vSphere Data Protection 6.0.

Get Your VMware vSphere Data Protection Advanced License Key
Once you have purchased vSphere Data Protection Advanced, you will receive a licensing confirmation email with your license keys or you can retrieve your license keys from the license portal.
Please note: vSphere Data Protection Advanced 5.8 has added licensing enforcement. Customers upgrading to vSphere Data Protection Advanced 5.8 will have to enter a valid license key to activate the functionality. Using vSphere Data Protection Advanced for Replication
vSphere Data Protection Advanced is licensed per CPU (physical processor) of ESXi hosts running protected virtual machines. Target hosts of replication do not need to be licensed.
To configure a vSphere Data Protection Advanced virtual appliance as a replication target, you need to insert a static license key that enables this capability. The static license can be found in a ReadMe file here. For more information about enabling a replication target refer to the following KB article.
