How to buy VMware vFabric Postgres
vFabric Postgres is free for non-production use, and is licensed per VM (up to 2 vCPUs) for production use. Pricing is as below:
U.S. Suggested List Price
Postgres Standard Edition (Production Use) Includes
a license for 1 managed virtual machine with up to
2 vCPUs. If your vPostgres database will have more
than two vCPUs, divide by two and round up. For
instance, a four vCPU vPostgres database will
require two vPostgres licenses. A five vCPU
vPostgres database will require three vPostgres
licenses. Support and subscription sold

VMware vFabric Postgres Requirements
For production, VMware vFabric Postgres requires VMware vSphere 5.0, and one instance of vCenter Server 5.0 Foundation or Standard. Learn more about VMware vCenter Server licensing and VMware vSphere licensing.
For dev/test, vFabric Postgres can be used with vSphere, as well as with VMware Workstation 8, VMware Player 4 and VMware Fusion.
